Le fil des souvenirs

1917, Thessaloniki. On the day Dimitris is born, a terrible fire destroys the city, forcing his family into the working-class quarters. Years later, Turkish refugees settle in the same district, among them Katherina. Fate unites the two children, heir to a textile empire and gifted seamstress, who together witness a tormented Greece, from German occupation to civil war and dictatorship that disfigure their once multi-ethnic city. Nearly a century on, what secrets do they keep, and how can they pass them on before it is too late?
