Summary
For taking part in a plot against Hitler, Conrad has been condemned to death. On the eve of his execution he writes a long letter to the Jewish friend he believes he betrayed. In this confession, where memory and present intertwine, he retraces the story of their powerful boyhood friendship and tries, at last, to explain the reasons for his betrayal.
