After a suicide attempt, twenty-year-old Hugo is revived and placed in the same hospital room as Blanche, an old woman at the twilight of her life. Between this young man who expects nothing more and this woman who treasures every moment, a dialogue unfolds around the great questions of life and death, God, destiny and freedom, happiness and love, perhaps helping Hugo find meaning in his existence, especially once Blanche shares the extraordinary experience she lived through at seventeen.
